Bed & Breakfast in Snowdonia

Our four star B and B in Snowdonia National Park, Wales serves up breathtaking views and big breakfasts in style.  The Independent picked Graig Wen as one of their 50 Best British B & B's in 2009 and you can also read about us in The Guardian.  Close to Coed y Brenin mountian biking centre, the Centre for Alternative Technology, Cadair Idris mountain range and RSPB reserves, Graig Wen is in the thick of activities in Snowdonia

We have refurbished the former Victorian slate cutting mill with furniture custom made by local crafts makers, modern design classics and traditional Welsh materials. But it's the views over the Mawddach Estuary and mountains that steal the show:  watch the tide come in over breakfast, see the sun set over a drink on the terrace.

Our Snowdonia bed and breakfast accommodation sleeps up to 10 guests in five newly refurbished en suite bedrooms.  Larger groups can hire the whole house and we have extra self catering accommodation in 4 holiday cottages, two yurts and our camp site if you are planning a special celebration.

AVAILBILITY UPDATE: all our rooms are fully booked for the Easter bank holiday weekend - we still have some availability in our holiday cottages.

Caban culture

Get together to eat with other guests around two large refectory-style tables in what we call the ‘caban'. Welsh quarry workers would traditionally have met here for meals, music and conversation. We like to think we're bringing back a bit of relaxed ‘caban culture' to the old slate cutting mill - especially after a glass of wine or two or a local Welsh ale from the honesty bar...

There are a number of very good places to eat out within a few minutes drive - including two restuarants featured in the 2010 Good Food Guide.  We can provide recommendations and help with advance booking at weekends and busy times.  For larger groups home cooked evening meals are available by prior arrangement.

Maps and guides are available in the caban for you to plan your day - or warm up by the wood burning stove after a windswept beach walk.

If you wander through our fields towards the estuary you can still see the stone incline which used to transport slate down to the wharf on below. Graig Wen means "white rock" - a reference to the quartz seams found in the slate and the gleaming rocks you might find around the site.

Other stuff about our Snowdonia B & B accommodation:

  • free WiFi. Mobile phone reception for most networks
  • all 5 guest rooms are ensuite including a ground floor double en suite for guests who find stairs difficult
  • you can bring your pet if you like - our dogs Jasper and Grace are pleased to meet well behaved new friends

Families with young children can relax and enjoy our holiday cottages. Adults may prefer the tranquility of our B&B where we welcome children aged 10+. Our campsite and yurts are suitable for star-gazers of all ages.

Get in touch with Sarah or John and we can tell you more about more about our facilities or discuss your requirements:
