Dolgellau
The Fork, Cork and Feathers – Excellent range of Welsh cheeses, charcuterie, seasonal fruit and veg and much more. Try organic venison sausages from the Llyn Peninsula, British grown heritage tomatoes or plump Greek Olives. You can also eat in at the Bistro. Check out their web page for special events.
Poptyr’ Dref – Bakery which is a Dolgellau institution and home of the Honey Bun. As featured in The Guardian’s recent “Bakery Tourism” article! Pick up filled rolls, hot takeaway pies and pasties, great value salad boxes and hefty slices of cake. Now has a new branch in Barmouth.
Roberts Butchers – Another Dolgellau institution selling fantastic quality meat, proper old fashioned thick bacon, super tasty sausages (pork and leek are a favourite), baked ham slices, home made faggots and much more.
Gwin Dylandwad – Boutique wine store with friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Dylan sources interesting and great value wine from small European producers. The place to try a wide range of Welsh craft beers, gins and whiskies. Enjoy a coffee or glass of wine as you peruse speciality olive oil and other goods. Look out for special events including wine tastings.
Aran Hufen Ice Cream Parlour – slow churned artisan ice-cream made locally using Welsh milk.Take a tub away with you (we also stock in the honesty freezer at Giiag Wen).

Barmouth
Dylan’s General Stores – Newly opened in May 2025. A cornucopia of the best of North Wales food. Pick up foodie treats, gifts or meals to eat back at the ranch from the Dylan’s restaurants Home Menu. Take home meals include Welsh Lamb Hot Pot and Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Poptyr’ Dref – a second branch of the popular Dolgellau bakery has opened next to The Mermaid Fish and Chips. Pick up a picnic and head to the beach.
Alfredo’s – Itaiian inspired sandwiches, pasties and pastries including range of veggie and vegan options.
More food shops near our Snowdonia holiday accommodation
If you’re staying with us at Graig Wen, the nearest shops are in Fairbourne, where you’ll find a couple of places selling good filled rolls and pies. The vegan Keralan pasty from Fairbourne Stores is a particular favourite… From Thursday to Sunday until 4.30pm you can also order wonderful Indian food to take home for dinner from Raj and Noorie at Indiana Cuisine.
Llwyngrwril on coast road (between Graig Wen and Tywyn)
Hendre Hall Farm Shop – small farm shop with local fruit and veg, good quality frozen burgers and sausages, baked goods etc. Stop off for a coffee at the cafe bar next door. Look out for tapas, cheeseboards and special food events.
Tywyn
Dysynni Pantri – Newly opened in June 2025. We’re hearing great things about their scotch eggs and pork pies! Fresh local lamb, large range of fruit and veg, quiches and much more.
Tywyn Bakery – Fresh bread, filled rolls, cakes and pies all made fresh from scratch on the premises. Open 7am – 2pm so get there early!

Machynlleth
Dyfi Wholefoods – They Machynlleth institution got a makeover a few ago when it moved to larger premises. It’s an Aladdin’s cave of tempting vegetarian and vegan delights, from tempting speciality teas, biscuits and chocolates to locally grown veg.
Market Day – Wednesday sees Machynlleth High Street lined with market stalls, many featuring local producers of organic fruit and veg and baked goods. Great value fruit and veg stalls to stock up.
