WELSH FOOD & DRINK
Food and Drink Near Our Self Catering Holidays Wales
There’s a great range of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants within 10 minute’s drive of Graig Wen. From salt marsh lamb to Cardigan Bay crab and Dolgellau’s delicious speciality honey buns, you’ll find plenty to tingle your tastebuds!
Dolgellau has an excellent butchers, artisan bakery, wholefood store and greengrocers as well as a couple of small supermarkets, perfect if you’re staying in our Dollegau cottages. Every Thursday there’s a small market in Dolgellau selling fresh fruit and veg, locally made jams and baked goods, and there’s a large street market every Wednesday in Machynlleth (a stunning half-hour drive through the mountain pass) which is good for fresh veg too. Camlan Farm Shop and Garden Centre has an excellent range of Welsh cheeses and other treats – you may pass it en route if you’re driving from the Midlands, or its a 20 minute drive from us. You can order crab and lobster from The Lobster Pot in Barmouth and fresh fish from the seaside town of Aberdyfi. You’ll find a warm welcome in our independent stores where you’ll hear the Welsh language being spoken – try saying Diolch / thanks!
For those staying at our campsites in Snowdonia Wales, who fancy a craft beer or lager from one of our local breweries can buy them here on site. You can also order breakfast croissants and get your morning fix of flat white from our pop-up reception. There’s a beach bar in Fairbourne or work up a thirst walking along the Mawddach Trail for a pint in the George III pub. If you’re staying in our Dolgellau Holiday Cottages, Dylan’s new wine shop in Dolgellau has an excellent range of unusual, good value wines by the glass. Or if you’re looking for a boozer with a great atmosphere when staying at our best camping Snowdonia site, we’ll point you in the right direction.
You will find loads of tips for our favourite places to shop, eat and drink from secret garden cocktail bars to the best cakes in Wales in the Guest Welcome Guide/App which is emailed to you when you book one of our self catering holidays Wales. In the guide are full contact details and links to Google Maps directions (except for the Secret Garden Cocktail bar – you have to find the wardrobe door for that!).
Iechyd Da! / Cheers!
