Good pub food in an outstanding location on the Mawdddach Estuary. 10 minutes drive, hop on a daytime bus from the site, or many guests walk or bike the 4 miles of traffic free fabulous scenery along the Mawddach Trail. Open every day. Booking advised. Dogs welcome

Penrhyn Bar & Grill

A wide range of good value meals including veggie and vegan options in this no frills locals favourite by Fairbourne Beach. 10 minutes drive, daytime bus or 4.6 miles of traffic free fabulous scenery along the Mawddach Trail. Open every day for most of the year. No booking. Dogs welcome

You will also find take out food in Fairbourne at The Food Station and Fairbourne Chippy. The Springfield Hotel has also just opened and is serving food.

The Torrent pub, Dolgellau – Welcoming pub popular with locals and tourists. Booking only required for their legendary Sunday roast! Dogs welcome.

The Stag Inn, Dolgellau – Cosy pub with nice beer garden. Menu features woodfired pizzas and excellent range of craft beers.  Very welcoming to dogs – they have a pet picture gallery!

The Last Inn, Barmouth – busy pub serving hearty portions of food. Lots of cosy corners with fairy lights and an unusual water feature! Dogs welcome.

TH Roberts, Dolgellau – The Welsh rarebit is fantastic but it’s Meg’s home-made cakes which steal the show in this atmospheric former traditional ironmonger’s. Not to be missed! Dogs welcome

Coast at Millie & Sid’s, Tywyn – a newcomer to the scene run by the folk from Aberdyfi’s popular Coast Deli.  You’ll be spoilt for choice with their daytime and evening menu including artisan sourdough sandwiches with home-made slaw, tapas and good vegan options. Dogs welcome.

Celtic Cabin – award-winning street food on Barmouth seafront. Open seasonally. No indoor seating but limited outdoor seating.

Y Sospan, Dolgellau – In a building dating back to 1606, Y Sospan has a rich past and there is plenty of charm to be found in this old stone and slate building. Food served all day, from a hearty full Welsh breakfast in the mornings to lunches and a seasonal menu for evening meals. Dogs welcome

Tafarn y Gader Tapas & Bistro, Dolgellau – Award-winning tapas style menu featuring Welsh ingredients. Fab home-made desserts. Tasty food and friendly service. Look out for when they are serving their Sunday carvery – wonderful range of meat and veggie dishes.

The Cross Foxes Bar & Grill –  Local, seasonal produce freshly prepared. Open daily for lunch and evening meals. Popular with families with outdoor seating area. Dogs welcome in Bar area. About 15 minutes drive from Graig Wen.

Best Fish & Chips Snowdonia

The Mermaid – hugely popular Barmouth institution and justifiably so. Be prepared for a long queue at busy times!

Mór Tywyn fish and chips – quality fish and chips with interesting options including Cajun fries and gluten free. Grab your chips and head to Tywyn seafront to enjoy.

Best Plant Based food in South Snowdonia

Foxglove Barmouth – An inspired five course set menu created with many foraged ingredients. The menu changes weekly and is an extraordinary experience – highly recommended! Dogs welcome although space is tight.

Food with a View

The Mawddach Neapolitan Pizzeria – Not only the best pizza this side of Naples but one of the best views in Wales too.  Gaze out at Cader Idris when you either dine in or outside in good weather. Don’t miss the amazing home-made desserts! Takeaway also available. Dogs welcome downstairs.

The George III pub, Penmaenpool – our aforementioned local pub is in a picture perfect spot overlooking the Mawddach Estuary and quirky toll bridge. Dogs welcome in bar.

Hendre Hall, Llwyngwril – Take a seat outside with a local beer and cracking pork pie and overlook Cardigan Bay.  Currently serving snacks and Welsh cheese and charcuterie boards but planning hot meals soon. 15 minutes drive around the scenic coast road. Dogs welcome.

Norbar – Epic sea views from the terrace of this seafood speciality restaurant just north of Barmouth. Steaks and veggie options also available. Open seasonally. Dogs welcome outside.

Dylans, Criccieth – If you’re planning a day out site seeing at Criccieth Castle, it’s well worth booking a table at this Michelin recommended restaurant a stone’s throw from the beach. Located within an iconic Art Deco styled building designed by Clough Williams -Ellis, architect of Portmeirion, Dylan’s serve award winning menus daily, and feature locally sourced produce from the seas and hills throughout the local area. Dogs welcome to outside seating area. Open all year.

If you’re camping or glamping with us in Snowdonia Wales, you can buy craft beers, barista coffee and order breakfast pastries and sour dough bread here on site. Thursday is Pizza Night during the school summer holidays. We may be biased but we think you can enjoy one of the best views in North Wales from our picnic benches!
