How to get to Graig Wen
How to find our camp site and holiday cottages and B & B at Graig Wen in Arthog near Dolgellau, Southern Snowdonia, Wales, UK:
By bike or foot
- direct access from Mawddach Trail. Special rates for bike/backpackers. Use the signposted stile from the Trail about 1 mile East of Morfa Mawddach Station, just after the large, concrete tank traps, or about 3 miles West of George III pub. Walk about 600 metres up hill through a field, past a house then across another field and up a steep track through woods. Reception is at the furthest double glass doors on the side of the building nearest the road.
By train
- Morfa Mawddach station 1 mile away with direct access along Mawddach Trail. We can arrange pick-up (including mountain bikes) or drop off at the station. The Cambrain rail route around the coast here is spectacular.
You can download some excellent guides from the Cambrian Train Line site including Train Gazers showing points of interest along the route and Trailways walks from station to station
By bus
– buses run between Aberystwyth/Machynlleth and Dolgellau (No. 28) - ask driver to drop you at Graig Wen between Penmaenpool and Arthog.

– Turn off A470 Dolgellau bypass, and take A493 signposted Tywyn/Fairbourne. Approx 5 miles from Dolgellau and 1 mile BEFORE Arthog village look out for the second road traffic sign with the horse symbol on the left hand side, followed by a solitary post-box on right.
Continue for approx 300 meters along a narrow stretch of road and look out for the Graig Wen entrance/sign on the right hand side on the brow of a slight hill .
Larger caravans and motorhomes should approach from Dolgellau direction as left turn from Fairbourne direction difficult.
Ignore Sat Nav if using post code! It takes you a couple of miles too far to Morfa Mawddach railway station.
