We are thrilled to be short-listed for an award! Here’s the news release:

Graig Wen camp site, near Dolgellau in Snowdonia has been short-listed for a Go North Wales Tourism Award.

The first Go North Wales Tourism Awards, Sponsored by Attractions of Snowdonia in partnership with Heart, are taking place on Thursday, 24th November 2016 at Venue Cymru, Llandudno. The purpose of the awards is to celebrate and recognise excellence in the region’s hospitality and tourism sectors. The awards will showcase and celebrate the achievements, hard work and dedication of those working in the industry.

Graig Wen is one of three businesses short-listed for the Best Caravan, Camping, Glamping Award. The category “recognises excellence in caravan or holiday parks that offer cabin and tenting accommodation and enhance the tourism experience in the destination.”

Graig Wen is on the banks of the Mawddach Estuary in Snowdonia National Park, with stunning mountain and estuary views. Over the last 9 years, owners John McKenzie-Murdoch and Sarah Heyworth and their team have worked to enhance the site whilst remaining true to the wild and unspoilt nature of the location. Campers can choose from yurts made from Graig Wen’s own woodland, pitches for touring vans open most of the year, or “close to nature” wilder camping with tents during the summer. This year Graig Wen has been included in top ten lists by national media including The Guardian, The Times and The Independent and been featured by Country Living Magazine. The site has previously won a Green Snowdonia Award for positive environmental changes.

“We are incredibly proud of our site and excited that Graig Wen has been short-listed for a North Wales Tourism Award” says Sarah Heyworth. “We hope that we help attract more visitors to appreciate this corner of Snowdonia and bring much needed business to the local economy year round. By promoting distinctively local produce, cafes, shops, attractions and walks we encourage guests to stay in and support the Meirionnydd area. We work hard to ensure our guests go home with special memories of their holiday and it’s rewarding to see so many of them returning again and again.”
