Our local microbrewery, Cader Ales (Cwrw Cader in Welsh), has taken on one of Dolgellau’s historic pubs, The Unicorn. They have simply but stylishly renovated the listing building into a cosy bar for a quiet pint. There is beautiful oak seating and slate flagged floors. Muddy boots and dogs welcome!
As you would expect, they keep an excellent cellar featuring guest ales as well as their own Cader Gold, Idris Bitter and Talyllyn Pale Ale. The food menu is basic but hearty, with tasty Pieminster pies and mash.
The Unicorn is just off the main square in Dolgellau. A good place to pop in for supper or a pint after walking to Dolgellau along the Mawddach Trail.
