Holidays in Wales at Graig Wen make the kind of memories that become family folklore: the time your brother fell into the mountain lake fully clothed; the time the kids caught 50 crabs in Barmouth harbour; the owl Dad saw on a dawn visit to the compost loo; the friendly mouse/baby rabbit/ toad who came to our tent and the kids named; the place we saw the shooting stars.

We love hearing about your family firsts here at Graig Wen too: first time glamping/camping; first time paddling in the sea; kids learning to ride their bike on the Mawddach Trail; the first marshmallow toasted on a camp fire, the first woodpecker spotted, the first mountain climbed.

You’ll find Graig Wen in Snowdonia is a fantastic location for families who want to enjoy the great outdoors. Whether your kids are already up for action-packed holidays, you’re a new family adjusting to adventures with infants, or you’re a group looking for a few gentler days out with grandparents (who sometimes likes to retreat to the peace and quiet of our B & B!).

Whether you are glamping, camping or staying in one of our cottages or B & B, our 40 acres of woods, meadows and streams form a natural playground surrounded by extraordinary views of Snowdonia’s mountains and coast. Camp fire pits and picnic tables dotted around the woods and fields are really great for spending time outside together.

Be sure to take a quiet moment of mindfullness while you’re here to watch the wildlife come and go, the tide come in and out, the sun set and the stars come out.

If you’re stayed with us before, there’s always something new to explore and different things to discover as kids get older. Like regulars Erin and Luca who are pictured paddling and dreaming above. They attempted to climb Cader Idris twice before summiting on their third attempt last year. Now young mountaineer Luca has his sites set on Snowdon – when he is seven…

We have lived here at Graig Wen for nearly 12 years, so we have lots of tips to offer families about things to do which will suit everyone (including the dog!), best places to eat out and general life hacks for a fun, stress free family holiday. Come and chat!

“Such a beautiful location so close to the estuary, in a beautiful part of the world filled with action packed activities for adventurous families. Definitely coming back to drink some more wine around the campfire underneath the sky filled with stars.” Lucy and family
