All weather Snowdonia activities at Corris Caverns

How about doing something unique to North Wales? We’re lucky to be close to Corris Caverns where you can take a magical underground trip through illuminated caverns or guided walks deep beneath the mountains of southern Snowdonia into a virtually untouched former Welsh slate mine.

Corris Caverns has a number of different activities in one location less than 30 minutes drive from Graig Wen. It’s a great day out for all ages whatever the weather. Dogs are welcome in many areas too.

The Maze

This leafy outdoor maze is filled with mythical stories, many taken from the Mabinogion, intriguing characters and a range of Quests for all ages and abilities. The Maze was designed by Steph Pasiewicz, who previously worked on the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony and Tim Burton’s ‘Frankenweenie’. Created to work with nature, the Maze is also a haven for local wildlife, from newts and dragonflies to gold-crested wrens.

Medals for everyone who solves the quests. Dogs welcome. Get a reduced price ticket when bought online with a King Arthur’s Labyrinth ticket.

King Arthur’s Labyrinth

Sail through a magical waterfall under the mountain to a mysterious land of legends and storytelling. Being underground, this is a great day out on a wet day or a hot day in Mid Wales. Follow a hooded figure into a mythical world filled with dragons, colossal giants, fierce battles and the legendary King Arthur. Pre-booking advised.

Corris Mine Explorers

Step through a hidden door in the mountainside and follow in the footsteps of Victorian slate miners with the best Mine Guides. You’ll experience the broad tunnels and cavernous chambers where the world’s finest slate was excavated by both hand and explosive, before being shipped around the world.

Hands-on and Fun Craft Activities at Corris Craft Centre

Also at Corris Caverns, the Craft Centre has 9 individual craft workshops where talented artists, craftspeople, designers and makers create an eclectic mix of quality products. There’s also a small, award-winning gin distillery.

Looking for something to do that is creative, fun and rewarding? You can immerse yourself in the sounds, smells and hustle bustle of a craft workshop and have fun designing and creating your own crafts to take home – or eat!

Some of our Snowdonia camping and glamping guests have recently spent a fun afternoon candle-making and chocolate making at the workshops. Brand new for 2023, Sammi Wilson Art are offering Paint your own Postcard activities. Also available: Pottery Painting, Throw a Pot and (for over 16s only) Furniture Building Workshops.

These engaging craft activities, which are suitable for all ages, allow you to share the passion and the knowledge of the individual designer-makers whilst creating your very own carefully handcrafted designs. Pre-booking required.

Welsh Deli and Dog Friendly Café

Corris Caverns Café serves a delicious all-day menu featuring fabulous local ingredients which have been grown, reared and produced in Wales. The menu is inspired by the local surroundings and the availability of fresh seasonal produce. The Corris Café is right next to the 9 Corris Craft Workshops.
